About Ubuntu Archives

Ubuntu Archives is a movement to reunite Black South Africans with their true selves by reflecting on the characters and traditions of old and telling the history (past and in the making) we should uphold for the upliftment of our people, from one generation to the next.

The spirit needs words of encouragement in order to grow in the fullness of its potential to effectively live out its purpose.

Our Mission and Vision:

Rooted in Pride, Driven by Purpose

Our aim is to educate people on these valuable contributions to instil pride and encourage even greater feats from present and future generations.

A Legacy of Inspiration for Generations to Come

For Black South Africans to have a rich repository from which to draw on inspiration and motivation to overcome their daily challenges and assert their self-worth from generation to generation.

Why this work is so important

Safeguarding generational lessons and restoring pride often remains uncommon; to the detriment of our people. There is a need for high quality audio visual storytelling that black South Africans can be proud of and want to lend a hand in expanding the reach of these stories.

During apartheid, a lot of culture and history was lost; stripping Black people of their self-worth, diverse mentors and heroes, and diluting longstanding customs and ways of understanding the world. In spite of this, Black people thrived and many made indelible marks in history that are worth sharing and celebrating. Some of the stories were censored or taken overseas; lost to the people who needed to hear them most.
